In order to save people from coronavirus outbreak, the Indian bank has asked the banks to open only few branches in every area so that people can stay at home. The IBA, all Indian bank association has requested all the state level bank and district manager to consult with the state administration and simply shut down the branches.
They said- “Keeping this in view, after due deliberation, it is suggested that member banks may selectively keep their branches open at such locations after due consultation with the local state government/authorities to carry out the basic essential transactions,”.
The association has also asked the CEO of the bank to work on the same and take the decision. They said-State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) convenors should also take concurrence of the regional director of RBI for implementation of BCP prepared by them. The MD & CEOs of the SLBC convenor banks may take the lead in providing guidance to the SLBC convenor and member banks in the state for effective implementation of the contingency plan”.
The IBA has asked the bank to prepare themselves and keep their services alternate days so that people can not over crowd the place.
